Cambridge Families of Asian Descent (CFAD) and Cambridge SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Council) collaborated with the Cambridge Public School District to create a more effective budget feedback session presentations and format.
Presentation #1: Introduction to the CPS Budget (What does the school budget pay for? How are staff and funds allocated to each school? How are school budget priorities determined?)
Presentation #2: How the community can give input for the school budget,
Small group sessions: participants actively discuss and collect feedback, which will be shared with the district and superintendent making budget decisions.
Please join ONE session to share your stories about what it is like at your school and viewpoints on what you think should be priorities for the school year 2024-2025 budget.
Highlights from the 2022-23 School Year
The 2nd annual Cambridge-Somerville Asian Festival (CSAF) was a resounding success! The two-day event, held in May 2023 to honor and celebrate AAPI Heritage Month, drew crowds of 700 between Friday's Artist Workshop and Saturday's Festival at the Foundry.
Visit the CSAF website to learn more about the 2024 Festival.
In January 2022, CFAD hosted a Zoom letter writing party to advocate for Coalition for Anti-Racism, Equity and Justice in Education (CARE) sponsored Massachusetts state bills supporting ethnic, culturally appropriate, and anti-racism curriculum in K-12 education. Although the session was well-attended and many letters sent to state legislators, Cambridge School District administration and local news outlets, the bills ultimately failed to move out of committee.
